More McFrenzy...

First, Iceland made international news this week when it was announced that McDonald's would no longer operate in Iceland due to a combination of the corporation's stupid business practices (i.e. they import all their McFood) and Iceland's shitty business environment (i.e. the currency is worthless).

Then, the news got even more ridiculous when Friday's "Most Popular" news on Yahoo was this:
"Thousands line up for last Big Mac in Iceland". Icelandic news sources estimate the number up to 100,000 this week -- as a friend of mine pointed out, that's ONE-THIRD OF THE POPULATION.

No kidding. The funny thing is that I personally know people who tried to go grab a last Big Mac just for kicks -- only to give up after seeing the ridiculous line that wrapped around the building (or the ensuing traffic jam of cars trying to just get in the driveway). We really have nothing better to do here.

The upside? Iceland made it into The Onion -- "America's Finest News Source":

This screenshot is probably barely decipherable, so for the real deal, click here.

My personal favorite quote from this: "Someone's going to have to get Björk out of the ball pit."

Here's the shocker -- apparently McDonald's Icelandic demise was even mentioned by Glenn Beck on his Fox News show. Yeah, I read the transcript -- he busts into the McDonald's story after a rant about Marxism and Socialists. Seriously? Do people at Fox News even know where to locate Iceland on a map? (hint: it's not by Antarctica) This is the same news channel that declared Iceland "a dangerous destination" due to those unruly pots-and-pans riots. Ooh [shudder].

Exciting times we live in!
